Experience

Green Beans Coffee is more than just a place to drink coffee. Their dedication to offering meaningful experiences is what sets them apart.

Coffee Roasting Experience

A monthly event held at Green Beans Coffee since 2024. You'll blend your own original mix from 30 varieties of beans, then roast them yourself using the in-house roasting machine.

Attendees have described it as: "I felt so attached to the beans I'd chosen, like they were my own," "Being surrounded by the aroma was pure bliss," and "The roasting machine looked so cool — an unforgettable experience."

It's something I'd love to try myself someday. Event dates are announced on Instagram — give them a follow if you're interested.

Hand-Drip Experience

I actually attended this one recently. The barista guides you through each step patiently, so even first-timers can master it with ease. You'll discover firsthand how water temperature, pouring technique, and extraction time all affect the flavor.

What struck me most was tasting my coffee side by side with a friend's — same beans, slightly different technique, yet surprisingly different flavors. Coffee really does carry the personality of the person brewing it.

The event runs in the evening, making it a perfect stop on the way home from work. (Reservation required)

A Pet-Friendly Café

Whenever I visit Green Beans Coffee, I often see guests with their pets. It's rare to find a café that truly welcomes pets inside. And it's not just "pets allowed" — when you arrive with your pet, staff take a polaroid photo and display it on the in-store notice board. Regular pet photo sessions are held, and the cheki booth inside is filled with adorable photos. If you want to enjoy a relaxed cup of coffee with your dog, this is the place. The shop operates in full compliance with health and sanitation regulations, so you can visit with peace of mind.

Visit Diary

13 visits and counting — each one brings a new discovery.

Visit #1 | October 21, 2022:
First Visit

The warm, wood-toned interior and the aroma of freshly roasted coffee were immediately soothing. I had the course menu that day, and everything was outstanding — not just the flavors, but the hospitality, which I can only describe as hotel-quality. Even the salad alone was impressive. I normally avoid wheat, but the focaccia with browned butter was so irresistibly good that I ended up eating every last piece. The slow-cooked main course was incredibly tender and melt-in-your-mouth.

Visit #2 | December 16, 2022:
Thoughtful Gluten-Free Hospitality

I visited with a group for the course menu. Since I follow a gluten-free diet, I mentioned it when making the reservation. On the second course, where pasta was served, the kitchen had prepared a separate dish just for me — an elegant salmon salad. The thoughtful attention to detail was truly touching.

Visit #3 | April 15, 2023:
Arriving via Sendagaya Station

This time I came by JR, walking from Sendagaya Station — about 10 minutes with the National Olympic Stadium on my left. It was cherry blossom season, so the lattes and desserts had a sakura-themed version on the menu. There's always something new each visit, which keeps it exciting. I took the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line from Kitasando on the way back — definitely the more straightforward and closer route.

Visit #4 | May 5, 2023:
The Grilled Chicken That Made My Niece a Devoted Fan

My sister and niece were visiting Tokyo from our hometown, so I brought them here. My niece was absolutely taken with the grilled chicken — ever since, whenever I go back home, she keeps saying "I want to go to Green Beans Coffee again." Now, whenever she comes to Tokyo for a fan event, she makes a point of stopping by for the gluten-free one-plate lunch with the grilled chicken. She might just be the most dedicated regular commuting from the farthest distance.

Visit #5 | October 8, 2024:
Discovering the Rice Flour Focaccia

The focaccia had been updated to a rice flour version — wonderful news for those of us eating gluten-free! Gluten-free sweets were on the menu too. The barista's smile was absolutely lovely. I'm already planning my next visit, this time with a gluten-free friend.

Visit #6 | December 19, 2025:
A Private Year-End Party

I attended a private year-end party at my favorite Green Beans Coffee. The special menu included unlimited drinks — both alcoholic and soft — and every single dish was gluten-free. The evening lighting was a touch dimmer, giving the space a sophisticated, grown-up atmosphere. The raw chocolate at the end paired beautifully with the aromatic coffee — a perfect finish to a wonderful evening.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Green Beans Coffee — gathered from actual visits to make sure first-timers have everything they need.

Q1. Where is Green Beans Coffee located?

3-30-1 Sendagaya, Shibuya, Tokyo — RC APARTMENT 1F. About a 3-minute walk from Kitasando Station and 7 minutes from Sendagaya Station. It's near the National Olympic Stadium and Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, in the Dagayasando neighborhood. One thing to note: there's no storefront sign, so watch carefully or you might walk right past it on your first visit.

Q2. What are the opening hours and days off?

Open 10:30–20:00 (last order 19:30). Closed on irregular days, so we recommend checking Instagram (@green.beanscoffee) before you visit.

Q3. Does the shop have an official website?

No official website exists. For the latest updates, check their Instagram. This ambassador site covers visit experiences and FAQs.

Q4. Can I make a reservation?

Yes. You can reserve via Instagram DM, by phone (+81-3-6447-0681), or through Tabelog (a Japanese restaurant review and reservation platform).

Q5. Can I bring my pet inside?

Absolutely! Green Beans Coffee is a fully pet-friendly café — all seats welcome pets indoors, including large dogs. Even on rainy or hot days, you can relax inside with your dog. The shop also offers water bowls on loan, hosts regular pet photo sessions, and displays polaroid photos of visiting pets on a notice board. For more details, visit our Pet Ambassador Site.

Q6. Is it family-friendly? Can I bring a stroller?

Yes, families are very welcome. Strollers are allowed inside, and I've often seen families with young children enjoying their visit.

Q7. Can I have lunch here?

Yes! Food is one of the highlights here. The gluten-free one-plate lunch is especially recommended — choose your main (pork, chicken, or a seasonal option), side dish, and sauce for a beautifully presented, satisfying meal to enjoy alongside your coffee.

Q8. Are there gluten-free menu options?

Yes — the house-made rice flour focaccia and rice flour chocolate brownie are wheat-free, making them safe for those with gluten sensitivities. As someone who follows a gluten-free diet myself, I can say this is one of the things I'm most grateful for here. If you mention it when booking, they can accommodate gluten-free requirements for course meals too.

Q9. What do you recommend?

My top pick is the hand-drip coffee. Just tell the barista how you're feeling and they'll choose the perfect cup for you. The asymmetric cup — thicker on one side — offers a subtly different aroma and flavor depending on which side you drink from. For food, go for the gluten-free one-plate lunch with grilled chicken. The skin comes out perfectly crispy — it's addictive.

Q10. Can I buy coffee beans to take home?

Yes. You can choose from all 30 varieties across the Fruity, Mild, Bitter, and Decaf categories. Whole beans or ground, your choice. Drip packs are also available, and you can buy the exact beans you enjoyed in-store. There's also a monthly subscription delivery for daily coffee drinkers.

Q11. Is online purchase of coffee beans available?

Unfortunately, online sales are not available — beans must be purchased in store. However, the monthly subscription service means you only need to sign up once in person, and beans will be delivered to your door every month after that. You can also sign up via the official LINE account after your first visit.

Q12. Is there Wi-Fi and power outlets? Can I work on my laptop?

Yes to both. Free Wi-Fi and power outlets are available at every seat — counter and table alike. The quiet, relaxed atmosphere with soft background music makes it ideal for focused work or reading. I regularly see people working on laptops here.

Q13. Is it suitable for business meetings?

Very much so. The refined, quiet atmosphere — like a hotel lounge — makes it perfect for meetings, interviews, and client sessions. I often see business professionals here, as well as remote workers. Free Wi-Fi and power outlets add to the convenience.

Q14. Is it easy to walk in for the first time?

Very much so. The exterior is understated — no sign — but once you step inside, you're greeted by a calm, welcoming space. The staff are warm and attentive, so no coffee knowledge is needed. Just share how you're feeling and they'll guide you to the perfect cup. First-time visitors feel right at home.

Q15. Is it comfortable to visit alone?

Absolutely. I go alone quite often. With counter seating available and a calm, unhurried atmosphere, it's a wonderful place to sit with a book and savour your coffee at your own pace.

Q16. Would it make a good date spot?

Highly recommended for a date. I regularly see couples here, and it's easy to see why — the atmosphere is refined, quiet, and subtly fragrant with coffee. The background music sets a relaxed, intimate mood. Choosing Green Beans Coffee for a date is a great call.

Q17. Do experience events require a reservation?

Yes. Event dates are announced on Instagram, so follow them if you're interested. To sign up, ask a staff member in person or send a DM.

Q18. Can I hire the whole venue for a private event?

Yes. The venue is available for private hire — from team gatherings and pet owner meetups to media shoots and fan community events. Capacity is up to 20 seated or 30 standing. Reservations are accepted from 3 months to 2 weeks in advance.

Q19. What payment methods are accepted?

Cash plus a wide range of cashless options. Credit cards: VISA, Mastercard, JCB, AMEX, Diners, UnionPay. IC cards: transit cards (Suica etc.), Rakuten Edy, WAON, iD, QUICPay. QR code payments: PayPay, d-Barai, Rakuten Pay, au PAY, Alipay, WeChat Pay. Your phone is all you need.

Q20. Is it welcoming for international visitors?

Very welcoming. The menu is available in both Japanese and English, and the shop offers free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and a full range of cashless payment options. The hand-drip experience with the asymmetric cup is particularly popular with international guests. The spacious interior also makes it easy to bring large luggage.

Q21. Can I order takeout?

Yes. Coffee and focaccia are both available to go — perfect for a stroll through the Dagayasando neighborhood with your cup in hand.

Q22. Do you have coffee available as a gift?

Yes. Gift coffee is available under the brand name Kitasando Reserve. Please ask a staff member in store for details.

About Ambassador

My first visit to Green Beans Coffee was shortly after it opened. Surrounded by the warm wood-toned interior and the aroma of freshly roasted beans, I knew immediately this place was something special. Three years of visits later, there's still something new to discover every time.

It has the feel of a hotel, not a café — right down to the thoughtful amenities in the restroom. I never used to make coffee at home, but now I brew a cup every single day.

Whenever I meet friends or have a work meeting in Tokyo, Green Beans Coffee is always my first choice. It's my third place — somewhere between home and work, where time flows a little more gently. The gluten-free lunch and sweets are a personal highlight too. A space where some guests linger over coffee, others relax with their dogs, and others quietly get on with work.

I'll keep sharing what makes this place so special, as often as I can.
